Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) Operations

During the Covid-19 aviation downturn, our team began working with other startups, SMEs and universities to explore the emerging technologies around UAVs and autonomous vehicles (air and ground). Barrett Aerospace became one of Singapore’s few participants with UA design capability, allowing us to design, build and test new UA systems and payloads. Our UAV capability now includes; payload testing, system integration, on board robotics, high resolution imagery and UTM flight trial experience.

Where no blueprint for future aircraft exists, it’s our job to engineer something practical that takes full advantage of the latest technology.
— Laurence Barrett, Founder of Barrett Aerospace

Going forward Barrett Aerospace is positioned to undertake wide-scoping UAV flight testing and lead in prolonged flight trial programmes between locations in Singapore, UK & Australia. As we do this for our own projects.

Barrett Aerospace is now your one stop partner to conduct low-medium-high risk flight tests including; overland, endurance, remote landing, humid, hot and high regimes. Whether this be to test key flight system tests, or towards your total certification journey.

We have formed strategic relationships with local Governments in Australia and partners in the UK. So are ready to conduct your flight tests whenever you are. In Singapore, we focus on integration, assembly, system bench testing and indoor flight proving.

Our unmanned flight testing service is distinctly start-up friendly, optimised to help you progress at speed with on modest budgets. We are always happy to receive your enquiry.

Making multi-role UA operations possible

Much of our development work focuses on the interoperability of UAVs within any civil airspace and environment. For example, within an agricultural use case, the environment will directly dictate the capabilities required and therefore ‘pull the best suited design’ needed to deploy it effectively.

UA Design Capability and Achievements

First in Singapore to pilot the first multi-drone operations on 13th March 2021

One of a few Singapore based companies to develop new UAVs and flight systems, utilising analysis and simulation to ‘virtually derive’ solutions.

Capable of understanding composites on a material science level, with strong emphasis on data orientated analysis to make design decisions. We work with new material suppliers and can even derive our own property data sheets.

All our team members are encourage to explore new ideas and expand the boundaries of their knowledge. Sometimes testing their ideas to within a higher probability of failure. This is to purposefully encouraged to foster a more curious and deep learning culture, but doing it safely.

We have very close knit aerospace collaborations worldwide. In addition to Singapore, we regularly liaise with Australia, SE Asia, UK & Europe.

We challenge ourselves to undertake research and development that is often difficult, where there is no accessible solution and where costs still need to be kept modest. This means that we often involve the world of enthusiasts, aviation hobbyists and associated COTS products.
